Why does Magic Over Murray
ask for donations if it's free to attend?
Magic Over Murray is a free event for families — that's core to what we do. Sponsorships cover the majority of what it takes to produce the festival, but donations help close the gap on costs like balloon operations, safety, and logistics. Your support also reaches beyond the festival weekend. Magic Over Murray is a program of the Murray Area Chamber Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and donations help fund the Foundation's year-round work supporting local businesses and youth in Murray. Every gift, big or small, helps us keep this tradition growing and giving back to the community that makes it magic.

Why We Call It Magic
People often ask why we chose the name
Magic Over Murray.
The answer isn't simply because of the balloons.
Hot air balloons have a unique way of changing our perspective.
To us, hot air balloons are magical because they seem to defy gravity.
A giant piece of fabric rises into the sky with nothing more than fire, air, and the wind.
They remind us that sometimes the impossible isn't impossible after all.
That's the kind of feeling we wanted people to experience.
When you're standing on the ground, you see streets, buildings, and traffic.
When you rise gently above the city, something changes.
You don't just see a city.
You see neighborhoods.
Schools.
Parks.
Local businesses.
Families.
You see a community.
That's the magic.
Magic Over Murray wasn't created to convince people that Murray is special.
